Casting & Consultation

  We start our process with a casting and consultation.  At this time we discuss your needs and devise a strategy for success.  This includes a sand casting of your feet, in real sand which gives us the ideal place to start.  

Why sand?

  Only with this technique can we get a better understanding of how your feet react to a weight bearing situation.  Sand pushes back and opens the feet up, yet it's gentle enough so as not to overcorrect.  We believe this is the fundamental element missing in all other casting techniques.  Other castings are filled with artificial ideas, assumed alignments, and can never move the foot as dynamically as sand.  Millions of grains of sand working together and independently, nothing compares to the beach.

The "Standard"

The "Standard" is a footbed made from various materials including EVA and Cork.  It's a great place to start, being that it's easily adjusted and will have the best chance at fitting different shoes.  

It's also quite lightweight making it great for cycling and other activities where weight matters.

The "fancy pants"

This is a "Dress" orthotic designed for shoes that do not have a removable inlay/insole.  Due to the fact that nothing comes out of your shoe, we can assume that not much or anything was designed to go into it (poor planning on their part).  We all have one or more of these shoes.  It's a compromise we make, but hopefully not for very long.  We also refer to this as a "2hr shoe", wear it to your "Fancy Pants" occasion for about 2hrs, then remove.   Even high priced custom shoes often don't take this into account.   

With the "Fancy Pants" orthotic we have good chance at saving that shoe, your feet and your experience.    

The "Sandal"

Have you ever left the beach hit the pavement and wished you could walk on sand all the way home.  Well, now you can!  Here is the shoe you been waiting for.  This is the creme de la creme of footwear.  Using the Sand cast we build you a sandal from "the sand up".   The process includes building the lower, placing the straps, a gait analysis, and finally the sole.  100% custom!  Because we make the entire sandal we don't need to work within the confines of a preexisting generic shoe.  Removing the middle man so to speak. 

The "Gel"

  This orthotic is made from a visco elastic polymer.  The gel mimics the fatty pad of your feet.  It's benefits include: less shear/friction, increased cushioning to the soles of your feet and almost endless durability.   Whereas EVA will break down over time, the visco can last many years.  Work on concrete all day, stand for hours, training for a marathon, this is your best friend.
